SDSU Highway Engineering Question
Question Description
ALL THE STEPS DOWN BELOW, but the file of the AutoCAD is too big I’ll email it after you take my question.
1) Open AUTOCAD Civil 3d (Imperial)
Go to (File) then (Open) and navigate to the (C-EXT-SURFACE) file to open it (the screen will be BLANK)
2) Click on the C3D Icon at the top left of the screen, then click (Drawing Utilities) and (Drawing Settings) |
3) Confirm and/or set up the following settings
4) Click on the C3D Icon at the top left of the screen again, then click (Drawing Utilities) and (Units) to enter the following:
-
- Angle: Type = Decimal Degree, Precision = 0.00
- Clockwise = Check
- Insertion Scale = Feet
- Length: Type = Decimal, Precision = 0.00
- Click OK
5) Show the basic menu
6) Confirm the Drawing Coordinates
1) Determine your POB Coordinates based on the table below
EASTING (X) 6272528.9745′ |
NORTHING (Y) 1930872.7578′ 2) Create a new layer 3) Insert the POB Block at your specific Coordinates
1) Start at the center of the POB_Block and enter each direction and distance (shown below) to traverse around the land to form the boundary. 2) Click the Layer Properties manager to create a new layer called C-Boundary in the Project Layers Filter. Set the color to red and set it as your current layer. 3) Review the following steps for drawing a boundary in AutoCAD 4) Use steps 1 through 6 above to draw your property boundary from the following legal description Beginning Legal Description at the Point of Beginning; Furthermore, use a circle with the radius of 3181.98 to construct the inner octagon shaped boundary that will be used for your design. (removed on 2/25/21) Note: The goal of a legal description is to identify a boundary. On rare occasions, due to various natural and human reasons, things may not turn out perfect. When that happens, youll have to dig a little deeper and research other maps and documents that may reference the property to develop an appropriate solution for the discrepancy. Keep in mind that when you are recreating a boundary, you must be aware of and understand the surveyors intent. 5) Create a new layer called C-WORKING in the Project Layers Filter
6) Within the Layers Manager: Freeze the following Layers: C-POB V-Topo-Contour-Minor V-Topo-Contour- Major Unfreeze the following Layers: V-Topo-Tin-Surface V-Topo-Contour-Text
1) Turn your boundary into a closed polyline:
2) Offset your boundary
3) Associate the Boundary
Now, Click on the outermost boundary (the one that was created from the Offset set above) This screenshot is only an example. Your boundary will be different Notice that the surface has been trimmed to only show whats within the offset polyline. This is very important because you do not want to overwhelm AutoCAD or the computer by processing unneeded information. |
