1. Engagement/Focus/Use of OARS interview paper #1 (4 pages double spaced)The purpose of this assignment is for you to practice the Engagement/Focusing processes and to critically analyze your work using a coding schema. You will be assigned a classmate as a partner for this assignment.A. The transcript of the interview: 1. Please interview each other regarding an area that you have in mind where you are thinking about some kind of change that is a specific target behavior. Your task is to engage the client for the majority of the interview using your OARS skills. You are not to discuss the problem or solve it during this stage.2. After you have spent about 5-10 minutes engaging your client, then move into the Focusing stage using the Agenda Setting tool. It is only then that you may ask the client (your classmate) to discuss what his/her target behavior is. This is where your interview ends. You may continue the session, if you wish.3. You are to videotape these interviews, which should last for at least 10 minutes each. If you are unclear as to whether your target behavior is appropriate for this paper, ask me for my opinion.4. Utilizing the coding system from MITI 4.2.1, please be sure to add up the number of Q, SR, CR, etc. and place in the provided scoring sheet. Be sure to use your scores to inform your analysis/reflection paper.B. Reflection paper: (4 pages, double spaced) 1. Use APA style, double spaced, Times New Roman, 1 margins, 12 pt font. 2. Discuss how you engaged your client, what OARS skills you used and whether you fell into MI communication traps and/or how you avoided traps. Please integrate information from class and readings on MI to support your discussion in order to demonstrate that you have examined and understand the material. 3. Identify two skills you would like to improve upon and how you would facilitate change in these skills. This can also include avoiding traps.4. Be sure to integrate your scores (%) from the MITI. Use these scores to inform how you critique your work. Attach the coding report sheet (see below). 5.
