University of South Florida The Black Lives Matter Social Movements Presentation

Question Description

This is a PowerPoint assignment where I will present in my online class. I will have 5-8 minutes to present, so please make sure the PowerPoint can last that amount when I present it. This assignment is a PowerPoint presentation where it would analyze a social movement (that currently exists) and have no opinions at al, just facts. You can talk about their goals, when it started, who started it, why it happened, their impact to society, etc. At the end of the presentation state a social question about the movement that you don’t know the answer to; like something you would like to know about them that you couldn’t find. The assignment needs at least 3 references and make sure to have enough slides that I can talk to for 5-8 mins.

This assignment (max 250 points) is worth 25 percent of your final grade. It invites students to elaborate and present a short research proposal, using PowerPoint, that develops the first steps of a sociological research. Students must create an original research project around a specific subject and ask a “research question”. The scope is to autonomously plan a sociological research about collective actions, social movements, or immigration today. Your presentation is expected to last 5-8 minutes. References must appear at the end.

Particularly, you will develop three steps:

1. Select a Topic (Subject and Title)

2. Defining the Problem (describe the subject of your analysis)

3. Formulate a final Research Question to show what you would further investigate (if you were a sociologist, what would you investigate and why? to answer what question?)

The topics (collective actions, social movements, or immigration today) can be related, but not limited to: Environment, Ethnic Relation/Race, Gender, Immigration, Economy, Politics, Religion, and Urbanism.
