Response: Marquieta

The Food and Agriculture Law and policy made a major impact on how the government has regulated the industry. This is the most substantial policy today that affects how food is bought and sold. The 1964 Food Stamp Act provided many needy families with a supplement to be able to eat. They are only able to buy what is considered to be a food product. They are still prohibited to this day to purchase alcoholic beverages. The Stamp program started with paper dollars color-coded with different values. The government required all states to develop eligibility standards. “The federal government took sole responsibility for funding benefits and retained the power to authorize retailers using standardized licensing requirements (Fandl, 2017, p. 248).”

Over the year this program has evolved and is now known as the SNAP program and is automatically debited to a card once a month. It is not only accepted at the local groceries but also gas stations and farmer markets. Over the past year, the government has funded more than ever during the pandemic. Families with children that are forced to school at home have been receiving benefits without applying. I believe that what this program has evolved to overtime has allowed many families to receive those that need them. I do believe that the qualifications should be revised because I still believe that some people are being denied for reasons beyond their control. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to drink and I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger asd you invited me in(Matthew 25: 35 New International Version).”
