Question Description

I’m working on a management question and need a sample draft to help me study.

  1. After reading through chapters 2 & 3, please complete the following reflection questions:
    1. Chapter 2 discusses our tendency to engage in rationalization, as opposed to reasoning, when it comes to thinking through ethical dilemmas or situations. Test the tendency to rationalize by yourself or others by doing the following:
    • Think of a personal ethical dilemma that you have faced or ethical principal that you have been pondering (i.e. how do I feel about a certain situation)
    • OR
    • Find a news article that examines the ethical behavior of an individual or organization

Examine the personal situation or the news article by putting it/them through the various rationalization tests outlined on p. 45-46 (Other-shoe test, Front page test, etc.). What are your thoughts now that you have examined the situation using rationalization tests?

    2. Chapter 3 has us examining the various touchstones in our lives in order to start thinking about our own personal principles. Outline 6 principles that you personally hold dear and that your inner voice tells you are important. To keep it simple, focus on principles that relate to the issues of deception, stealing, and harming (as outlined in Chapter 1).
