  1. Seriously consider for a moment the possibility that you need never study another language since, with your brain connected to the cloud, you can instantly understand and speak any language you want–with the ease and accuracy of Google Translate. Would you welcome such a development? Why or why not?
  2. In the year 2030, following Kurtzweil (see “2030–Ray Kurzweil’s Predictions of Bill Joy’s Fears?,” pp. 374-376 in Behrens and Rosen), if you had the opportunity to back up your brain and live online forever, would you? It may seem like a joke question today, but people are now discussing the question seriously. What’s your answer? Support your answer.
