University of Maryland College Park viral content Reactions Paper

For this assignment, you will be considering why some content goes viral. To start, locate a piece of content (a video, a meme, a gif, or text) that went viral. An example of this would be Tide’s 2021 Super Bowl commercial (Links to an external site.)

Then write a 300-400 word reflection. This reflection should include:

1. A description of the content that went viral, including dates and details of where the content was found. This should include links to the content or screenshots with citations of the content.
2. A discussion of how the content went viral. Did it go viral on a particular platform and did it go viral right away or did it take time? Who helped it go viral? Was it connected to a particular event? Who shared it? Who was talking about it both on and off of social media?
3. According to the readings for this week, what caused that content to go viral? Do you think other factors not mentioned in the readings resulted in the virality of that piece of content?
