SDSU Women and Their Role in The Religious Sector Essay

I’m working on a english discussion question and need an explanation to help me study.

This week, we are continuing our exploration of the relationships between forms of expertise and democratic decision-making processes. By way of a series of case studies meant to bring these theoretical concerns and questions ‘down to earth,’ we are beginning to see the real and potential tensions that exist not only between professional experts and non-professional experts, but also between sometimes conflicting or competing forms of different expertise (e.g. formal vs. lay expertise).

Given some of the case studies we are examining this and last week, have there any that stood out? Did you find yourself ‘taking sides’ in any of the case studies we’re exploring ? Did you find one angle or perspective in a case study more or less persuasive? What kinds of evidence did various individuals/groups use to present or argue their case?

If folks haven’t had a chance to finish the readings before taking to our discussion board, please feel free to draw on other sources or examples that come to mind: in the STEM sphere broadly speaking, can we think of examples were there are claims or arguments that come into minor or major conflict – and where one or another claim appears to be more legitimate, more trustworthy, more authoritative, more valid?
