for our discussion this week we will be building on what we learned last week about (identifying variables) and apply it to one of the more well-known political science works in recent memory, that of Why Nations Fail by Acemoglu and Robinson.

For this discussion, I want you to read Why Nations Fail and watch the short lecture on the same topic by Robinson and ask yourself, what question do they want to solve? Second, what are their explanation(s) for why some countries succeed while other do not, or are failing? Finally, do you agree with their argument?
