Assignment Details
Journal Writing
Journal writing is an informal writing approach that people use to record their thoughts and experiences on any subject; this can prove helpful for future tasks, including writing. In college courses, a self-reflective journal entry may focus on how a course has improved your writing.
Write a 200-word entry for a journal.
NOTE: The journal entry must be specific to the current section of this ENGL107 course. No journal entries may be resubmitted that were written for a previous ENGL107 course.
- Discuss the writing and research skills you have learned.
- Identify what you have learned about your strengths and challenges and the changes you experienced with these writing strengths and challenges as you progressed through the course. In other words, discuss how you have grown as a writer.
- Is research important for argumentative writing? In explaining your response, briefly mention how lack of research might weaken your argumentative writing.
- How will your knowledge about writing help you in the workplace?
Responses to Peers: Respond to someone elses reflective journal entry with feedback on his or her ideas. Use the following questions as a guide:
- What were some of your peer’s writing strengths and challenges? What did you share in common with your classmate?
- What additional benefits are there to using research in argumentative essays that you can add to your classmates discussion?
- Did you agree with your classmates assessment of how knowledge about writing will be helpful in the workplace? What would you add?
