Question Description

F-Test and The ANOVA Discussion

Examine F-Test and ANOVA computations.

The analysis of variance (ANOVA) refers to the inclusion of only one independent variable in a research design. This is called a “one-way ANOVA.” It is very much like the t-Test. However, where the t-test is limited to two levels of one independent variable, the one-way ANOVA may be used to analyze data that includes more than two levels of the independent variable. The F statistic squares the t statistic. It is the test statistic needed to evaluate the hypothesis that there are overall differences between groups (Salkind & Frey, 2020).

  • Read Chapter 13 in your text.
  • Watch the video about using the ANOVA. ANOVA: Crash Course Statistics #33: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOuu8IBd-yo&list=PL8dPuuaLjXtNM_Y-bUAhblSAdWRnmBUcr&index=34
  • Discuss question 1 on p. 245 of your text. Provide your peers with an example of using analysis of variance with your own milestone research project. Doing this examination may require you to consider different ways of doing your research.
  • (Question 1 p. 245) When is analysis of variance a more appropriate statistical technique to use than a t test between a pair of means?
