Some people are bound by tradition and resist change even if it is more honest or fair. They would rather have calls made by umpires or referees rather then use technology to determine strike vs ball or fair play vs a flag. Some people are extremely passionate about the tradition of the game and would not want to see anything changed. Other people have more of a passion for fairness and get upset when human error occurs. Regarding metrics and statistics, it is up to each team to decide what is in their best interest to use. But either way you will likely not be able to satisfy everyone regardless of the approach you choose.
