Question Description
Community partnerships is a promising way to address community problems. Its strategies put together the forces needed to address crucial problem. Community Partnership dynamic relationships and dialogue between community members. The community partnerships give public health planners and program planners a framework (Martínez, et all, 2019). This framework is for planning, evaluating, adapting, and expanding their approaches. It can be used as a tool for internal dialogue as the programs are being planned. It is useful for discussion with community partners on how to encourage their participation and to determine which strategy will be more suitable for a particular public health goal. Community partnership engages the community members as an agent of information and feedback for the local health department and also for the health department of the community. The community and local health department can solve problems together and require commitment of time and staff resources in order to be successful (Martínez, et all, 2019). Working together helps them solve the problem. The community initiates and directs actions and makes decisions and acts independently of the health department.
To use our power and influence effectively, we need to develop an awareness of the legislative process and hone our working knowledge of the political arena. Nurses have been somewhat reluctant to do this in the past. We have for the most part just wanted to take care of our patients with no time or interest in the politics of individual institutions and even less interest in the political activities going on around us. Nurses’ expertise and health care knowledge is based on our practice, training, and experience. With our well-earned public respect and our strength in numbers, nurses are in an excellent position to exert considerable influence on health care policy, policymakers, and Congress in general. Because of the recent attention generated by the nursing shortage and the passage of the Nurse Reinvestment Act, nurses have gained legislators’ attention (Belfield, 2020). Now is the time to take advantage of that attention and use our influence in positive ways to address issues that concern all nurses across the spectrum of practice areas.
In the 1800s, lung cancer was a rare disease; now it kills more women than breast cancer. We simply cant afford another century like the last one, which is why nurses must not only help people stop smoking, but begin to help the public understand the role of the tobacco industry and why tobacco control policy measures like higher tobacco taxes, which reduce consumption are so important. Nurses can do this in multiple ways (Belfield, 2020). For example, when counseling smokers to quit, nurses can remind them that they dont want to keep giving their money to companies that have lied and deceived so many people about how deadly their products are. Nurses can also alert smokers to watch out for industry-initiated efforts to discourage them from quitting.
