What is earthquake safety? Why is it important? What does it involve?

EARTHQUAKE KIT
Answer the questions below. Number your answers. Do not write out the question, but state the question in your answer. Write at least 2 sentences for each number below.
Address the following:
- What is an earthquake kit?
- Why is it useful to have an earthquake kit?
- What items are you going to put in your earthquake kit (list at least 10 items)? Why did you choose these items?
- Where would you keep your earthquake kit? Would you have more than one?
- What is the one most important item in your earthquake kit, and why?
Part 3:
SHAKEMAP
Answer the questions below. Number your answers. Do not write out the question, but state the question in your answer. Write at least 2 sentences for each number below.
- What is a ShakeMap?
- How are ShakeMaps made?
- Why are ShakeMaps useful?
- Why do the values change with location for one event on the ShakeMap?
- Why are there different colors on the ShakeMap?
Since we live in a place that experiences earthquakes, it is important to understand as much as we can about them, which includes knowing what to do in the event of one.
I hope that with this exercise, you actually take the time to assemble an earthquake kit for yourself, your family, and any pets you may have. I also hope that you realize the importance of being prepared.
This is not a discussion; your instructor will be the only one reading your responses. This exercise should be quite useful to everyone.

20 points: Thoughtful response, followed the directions, addressed each question, wrote complied with the number of sentences required for each section.
