MGMT 3720 University of North Texas Business Proposal Paper

Question Description

You will find many examples on the internet, but yours will be written for an internal company audience (Board of Directors) vs. a typical business proposal that is delivered to an external client in a sales setting (yours will have different messaging and different sections).

You will present your business proposal to the Board of Directors of Mean Green Corporation(MGC) and you will write it from the perspective of MGC’s Human Resources Director, your current position within the company. Your proposal should include the following sections as discussed in class:

  • Title – summary title for your proposal
  • Executive Summary – Summary of 1-2 paragraphs for the proposal – STRATEGIC
  • Problem Statement – why are you proposing this? – TACTICAL
  • Proposed Solution – what/how will your solution solve a problem? – TACTICAL
  • Timeline – what is the timeline for your project proposal? – TACTICAL
  • Cost Implications – summarize any cost implications for the project (in this case you will make assumptions for salary, office space etc.) – TACTICAL
  • Call to Action – what are next steps, what do you need from the executive team? i.e. a decision for a particular item, resources, capital? – TACTICAL.

Background/Scenario:

The Mean Green Corporation corporate office has received word that a market opportunity has presented itself in Miami, Florida. MGC manufacturers speed boats and has learned that several boat dealers have just opened offices in Florida. MGC does not currently sell boats in Florida and feels the need to open a sales office in this region to increase its market share. You, the HR Director, have been asked to put a proposal together to open a sales office in Miami in 3 months with 3 Sales Representatives.

From an organizational standpoint, MGC has been challenged in the past with their culture. The culture doesn’t support diversity efforts, poor employee motivation and job dissatisfaction have resulted, leaders do not communicate well with their employees or peers and a highly political work environment exists. Although your job as HR Director is to address the challenges in your culture, use this as an opportunity to build a positive culture beginning with your new sales office. Your business proposal should include the sections listed above and focus on how to build the team correctly from the beginning and build a positive culture and work environment in this new office.
