Ohio Christian University Reliability and Validity Discussion
Question Description
Reliability and Validity Discussion
Describe the concepts of reliability and validity.
It is easy to confuse reliability and validity. They are, in fact, very different concepts but tightly related, too! It is important to be able to differentiate between the two in statistics but understand how they are related as well. You can have a test that is reliable but not valid. It may reliably give you the same result every time. However, it may not do what it is supposed to do or test what it is supposed to test. That is validity. These concepts are heavily involved in psychological measurement which is the foundation for most social science research.
