San Diego Sate University Post Pandemic Industries State Discussion

Question Description

On Feb 12, 2020, the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was at an all-time high of 29,551. Since March 11, when the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a pandemic, the world economy has taken a nosedive. On March 23, 2020 the DJIA was at a low of 18,591. Since then the market has rebounded and settled at about 29000 (although the daily swings can be large). That said, there are some companies that have been thriving: Amazon, Microsoft, CISCO, ZOOM, NETFLIX, and pharmaceuticals like Regeneron. Others have closed (some temporarily some permanently). After the pandemic, our lives will be forever impacted. The US is full of highly energetic entrepreneurs looking to build new products to make life easier and more enjoyable. Our economy will rebound, but it may a while (we will see). What industries do you feel will have the best chance for growth in the new normal (post the pandemic) and which industries do you think will struggle?
