Research Component

Cause and Effect of Medical Condition

Using the proper medical terminology, describe the cause and effect of the condition. For example, if you were to describe the cause of a broken leg, for our purposes it would not be acceptable to say “fall from a tree”. “Fall from a tree” would be acceptable in the Case Study portion of the assignment. In this example what is acceptable, is to describe the response of the body to the broken leg.

Symptoms and Signs of Medical Condition

Symptoms are subjective indicators of illness. An example of a symptom would be nausea.

Signs are objective indicators. An example of a sign would be a fever of 101°F.

Indicate all items that would be pertinent to a physical exam (click on this link (Links to an external site.) for more info).

Indicate all diagnostic tests that would be ordered. If there are changes in blood values, indicate what would be abnormal and normal readings.

Treatment

List possible treatments to relieve symptoms or possible cures. If pertinent, include any information related to clinical trials.
