SMC Interpersonal Goals Which May Not Be Met in Worst Choice Group Discussion

There are many interpretations for selecting the best approach in a situation, so let’s discover how each of you may see a situation similarly or differently. Keep in mind, each situation is unique as is each of you.

What specific goals would you expect to meet (or not) in the best and worst approach for the situations you have selected? Identify these goals and include your rationale for each goal in the paragraph required, as described (Best and Worst).

• Explain the best choice (#1) in comparison to other 4 approaches. 1 paragraph.

• Explain worst choice (#5) in comparison to other 4 approaches. 1 paragraph.
  • Identify interpersonal goals which may not be met in worst choice.

Choose 2 situations: when communicating with a romantic partner

a. You need to apologize for a fight that you started the last time you were together.

b. You want to confront your partner about something he or she has done.

c. You want to express gratitude to your partner.

d. You want to make “date” plans for the evening.

e. You want to end a six-month-old romantic relationship.

Carefully and thoughtfully prepare your post. You are posting a complex applied learning task into a group discussion.

Publish your analysis of both situations into one post. Number them 1 and 2. Copy the situations selected into your post in bold, so that it is clear what situation you selected. Rank all five approaches from highest #1 (best) to lowest #5 (worst)– you can copy and paste them in order to the discussion. Explain your best choice in one simple paragraph and your worst choice in another simple paragraph, identifying at least one or more specific goals met or not.
