Proposal Instructions
In what is considered the capstone of this course, is a Research and Analysis paper. In this research and analysis paper, students are tasked to research and analyze, either a specific project case study, or a series of project case studies. (Public sector projects and non-profits preferred, but all project are welcomed, private sector projects must be approved by the professor).
Framework
To exhibit mastery and showcase the application of project management knowledge gained from the course, the paper is expected to follow this framework:
- Introduce the paper and offer a summary the issues and the main concerns in the case study/series of case studies selected.
- Research and review the literature to investigate if the issues and concerns in the case (s) are typical or unique to the case study/series of case studies selected.
- Drawing from the researched literature, the PMBOK Guide, and other assigned course, material, and most importantly your knowledge and expertise of project management, interrogate, then analyze the case study/series of case studies selected: What was done right, what went wrong, what could have been done differently, why, and how?
- Draw solid defensible conclusions, then offer solutions and alternatives
- Finally, offer informed recommendations.
The paper will be delivered in TWO parts (a proposal due in Week 4 and the final paper due in Week 8 (see below for specific due dates)
Proposal must include the following components:
DRAFT TITLE: Create a descriptive draft title.
ABSTRACT: include an abstract that captures your proposed paper’s purpose, method, expected findings, and conclusion/implications
DRAFT OUTLINE: Create a draft outline of the components of your paper, including the structure; topics and sub-topics. .
ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY: Create an annotated bibliography (5-10 academic sources): This should help you perform your initial research for source material beyond assigned textbooks. For more on annotated bibliography follow link:

Grading Criteria
With the six requirements in mind, your PROPOSAL must satisfy the following. In other words, your grade is determined by the following):
- Proposal must clearly state/show your choice as a research and analysis of 1) a case study, or a series of case studies.
- Proposal must communicate your intentions for the paper as: very clear, well organized, and coherent.
- Proposal must to “TOPIC CENTERED” and RELEVANT to Project Management.

This Research and Analysis PROPOSAL is worth 100 points.
