Reading: Read Chapter 7 (Souryal): “Racial Prejudice and Racial Discrimination”.

DISCUSSION

I. Initial Post: imagine that you are the chief of a police department where a black man has been killed by one of your officers while responding to a call for assistance where a man was reportedly armed with a knife and threatening others . You immediately order your department to conduct an internal investigation. It is apparent that the community does not trust your department to handle this investigation as riots are breaking out. Adding fuel to the fire, the media is portraying your department racist, and communiy leaders are demanding the police officer be fired and put in prison. Based on your reading of this chapter and research you have conducted, how would you, the leader of this organization, deal with this complex situation?
