Trauma in childhood can take many forms: acute traumatic experience, abuse, witnessing domestic violence, racial violence, parental incarceration, neighborhood violence, and so on. Childhood trauma has been shown to affect cognitive, emotional, and physical development and result in long-term impacts. Discuss the Ted talk by Dr. Burke Harris “How childhood trauma affects health across the lifetime” Link (Links to an external site.) and read The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) Addressing Race and Trauma in the Classroom: A Resource for Educators.
