For this exercise, first read the prompt, What Do They Mean. Here take time to understand the kind of reading you need to do to write a good summary and how to think about your audience. As you read, try making a comment or annotation on the pdf that others might also see and find helpful. For example, which part of the instruction seems important to remember?Then look over the doc, Says-Does. Here you learn how an author both says something (makes points, creates content) and does something (the rhetorical choices, the way they write or address their audience). Note how the writing changes from summary to analysis and how the analysis uses specific underlined words.
