AUM When My Love Swears that She Is Made of Truth by William Shakespeare Discussion
Question Description
- Read the following poem
When my love swears that she is made of truth by William Shakespeare
Then choose two literary devices to analyze in great detail. Choose from the list below.
- Tone
- Diction
- Imagery
- Comparisons (Simile and metaphor)
- Other figures of speech (hyperbole, personification, pun)
- Irony
- Symbolism
- Allusion
- Sound (alliteration, rhyme)
- Form
For the two areas you have chosen, identify each device in the poem you selected and discuss in detail how each affects the poem’s overall meaning. Identify as many occurrences as possible. Do NOT pick a device that is missing from the poem! For instance, if the poem does not contain allusions, then you should not choose this area.
Your identification and discussion should be written in paragraph form. You will have a total of two paragraphs (one for each literary device). Each paragraph should contain a topic sentence, supporting sentences, and a concluding sentence. Make sure you follow basic literary conventions, quote poetry properly, and proofread your work! Look back at the previous module if you need to review.
Use the proper MLA heading (as illustrated on the Formatting Guidelines document). Submit your work in a .doc or .docx file.
