Example 2:

1. The article I found was taken from the personal finance section of CNBC entitled, “Men take more travel risks than women and buy more trip insurance, survey finds” (Kiesnoski, 2020).

2. I am focusing in on the amount of travel insurance purchased by men and women purchase, respectively. For this survey, X =the proportion of women who purchase travel insurance and Y = the proportion of men who purchase travel insurance. One equation that could be used to evaluate this data is a pooled proportion.

3. This formula is used to test whether or not two proportions are the same. This is important to determine if a difference in proportion in the sample is related to a difference in proportion of the population (Holmes et al., 2017)).

4. The pooled proportion formula in found in section 10.4 of the textbook. LaTeX: p_c=frac{left(x_a+x_bright)}{left(n_a+n_bright)}p c = ( x a + x b ) ( n a + n b )(Holmes et al., 2017)
