What is a “White Paper?”

In short, in higher education and for the purpose of this assignment a White Paper is a relatively brief document that outlines a particular challenge and offers information regarding potential courses of action in endeavoring to address the challenge.

From time to time sport administrators are directed by someone (typically in a supervisory capacity) to provide information and counsel related to a challenge, problem, and/or potential initiative. The supervisor is not seeking a comprehensive report, but rather a document that will allow her to review, absorb, and understand the most vital information related to the particular situation.
