Arizona State University Central Idea of Christianity Paper

For this week’s discussion be reminded that you DO NOT need to post replies to anyone else’s posts. Just post your intro paragraph that contains your thesis and your ‘plan’ sentence following it.

It should look something like this::::

This paper will survey & discuss the central idea of Christianity. Christianity is a global religion that began in the first century C.E. when Jesus of Nazareth began his ministry in the region of Palestine. While there are many expressions of Christianity throughout the world, this paper will review the researcher’s experience at the Miami Bapta-metho-presby-costal Church in the city of Hialeah. Miami Bapta-metho-presby-costal Church represents a Protestant expression of the Christian faith. This paper will argue that the central idea of Christianity is the absolute sufficiency of the person and work of Jesus. This paper will demonstrate this by first demonstrating the centrality of Jesus within the historic beliefs of Christianity, then, the paper will demonstrate the presence of Jesus’ person and work within the liturgy and aesthetic of the gatherings, finally, this paper will describe how the person and work of Jesus influences the daily lives of congregants of the Miami Bapta-metho-presby-costal Church.

1. Within the first sentence, you know what this paper is about.

“This paper will survey & discuss the central idea of Christianity.”

2. At the same time, it has 1-2 intro sentences that further clarify what the paper is about.

“This paper will survey & discuss the central idea of Christianity. Christianity is a global religion that began in the first century C.E. when Jesus of Nazareth began his ministry in the region of Palestine.”

3. The paper then takes a sentence or two to clarify which tradition is being focused in on, and at what site.

“While there are many expressions of Christianity throughout the world, this paper will review the researcher’s experience at the Miami Bapta-
metho-presby-costal Church in the city of Hialeah. Miami Bapta-metho-presby-costal Church represents a Protestant expression of the
Christian faith.”

4. Most importantly, the thesis is clear, concise, and easy to understand.

“This paper will argue that the central idea of Christianity is the absolute sufficiency of the person and work of Jesus.”

5. Also important, it gives an outline of how the paper will develop its argument

“This paper will demonstrate this by first demonstrating the centrality of Jesus within the historic beliefs of Christianity, then, the paper will
demonstrate the presence of Jesus’ person and work within the liturgy and aesthetic of the gatherings, finally, this paper will describe how the
person and work of Jesus influences the daily lives of congregants of the Miami Bapta-metho-presby-costal Church.

Short, sweet, and easy to execute once you understand the framework for academic writing. Don’t add fluff, the more pithy you are, the better.
