1, Using latex for writing assignments is highly recommended, but not required. You can use Word or others if you want (but hand writing won’t be accepted). Again if you are not familiar with latex, then this is a good opportunity to learn. The material I used to learn it is here. If you found any good resources please share it. You may want to try overleaf (google it), a web-based platform that is convenient for collaboration.

3, When you asked to design an algorithm, make sure you first describe your algorithm in plain text, and then, if you think necessary, illustrate details with pseudo-code. Pseudo-code-only solutions won’t be accepted, as they are extremely hard to follow, and if we cannot understand your solution, we won’t be able to give your solution points. (I use pseudo-code in class but I explain it while I write it.) The plain description in natural words should convey most of your algorithm and convince that you know how to design the algorithm. Whether or not include pseudo-code is a choice of yours; pseudo-code has its advantage of illustrating structures (like switches and loops) and critical details.

4, You always need to analyze the running time of your algorithms.
