1. For each text, find the and clearly state the authors’ thesis statements (the essay’s main idea in his or her own words–this could be more than one sentence). Provide a brief explanation of how your chosen statements cover the contents of the entire essays.
2. For each text, consider how you could apply the main ideas for Essay 1. For example, what is the tipping point of a trend that you could discuss using Gladwell’s criteria? What could be a community you define using Garber’s text, and how could you develop your definition?
3. Finally, present a rough idea of which option you’d like to write about and what idea you’d like to work with. For example, will you define a tipping point or would you prefer to define a community? Why?
