At the end of “The Story of an Hour,” Louise Mallard dies (according to the doctors) “of heart disease–of joy that kills” (Chopin). Answer the following questions in a short paragraph (5-6 sentences):

• Was the story’s ending unexpected or were you prepared for it?
• Do you find the ending satisfying? believable? contrived? something else?
