  1. Try an exercise in active mindfulness. The next time you go somewhere outside your home – shopping, office, school, transit, anywhere – pay attention to the other people around you, and how they are interacting with others and with things in the environment. What patterns do you see? What individual differences do you see? Which ways of interacting are more like the way you would do it? What do these observations tell you about yourself? Can you question any of your own assumptions about what is “natural” or “normal”?
  2. To develop mindfulness about the process of your own learning, create a list or mindmap of questions and ideas you have related to leading people in international settings. Refer to the list as you go through this book / course, identifying answers and adding more questions to explore.
