Make a Theater Genre Collection

For this assignment, use any reputable sources to create a “Theater Genre Collection” defining ten different genres (listed below).

A genre is a category of artistic composition.

For example, genres of movies include “horror, scifi, romantic comedy and drama.” Genres of literature include “romance, science fiction, family drama, thriller.”

For this assignment you will be exploring genres of theater. For each listed genre you must:

• define its characteristics,
• describe its history briefly,
• find a famous title, and playwright that represents it, and
• include a picture or link to a picture or image, which typifies the genre.
• Use your own words. Do not copy and paste from the internet
• A good source for this assignment is your book, which defines and lists many genres
• Please make your assignment about theater, not movies. The two art forms are similar but not the same and this is a class about theater, after all.

Farce

Farce is a type of comedy, very exaggerated, and silly, with lots of stupid jokes and crude characters. Usually the story is entertaining but improbable. Farce has been around since antiquity and can be traced all the way back to the Roman and Greek civilizations (300 AD and 300 BC). A modern example is “Lend Me a Tenor” by Ken Ludwig. Farce looks like this:
