Op-Ed Requirement

• The topic should be appropriate to an op-ed piece
• Incorporate at least two reputable outside sources
• Follow the conventions of the op-ed genre

Publication venue memo requirements (this section is pass/fail):

Include a paragraph (5+ sentences) that details the venue you’d ideally submit your op-ed to (for example, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Medium, The Daily, The Washington Post).

The memo should include:

• a discussion of the venue (audience, scope or focus of op-ed articles, reputation)
• why it is appropriate for your topic?
• The publication will help to establish clearly the rhetorical situation in which you are writing and your audience
