SPMT 450 American Military Week 2 Comparing and Contrasting FIFA and IOC Paper

Each student will research two sport governing bodies. This could be anything from the NCAA to FIFA to the IOC to NAIA, etc. You will find basic organizational information for each (e.g. mission statement, organizational structure, responsibilities and duties, management objectives, constitution, etc.), and then compare and contrast the two organizations in each area. In addition to the lessons, readings, and resources provided, you are encouraged to locate additional resources to support your work to help you evaluate the two organizations. Of course, you will have to visit the website of the governing bodies to find their mission statement, organizational structure, responsibilities and duties, management objectives, constitution, etc.

The Richard G. Trefry Library at APUS has some great resources topics related to sports governance, including research databases such as SPORTDiscus, SBRNet (Sport Business Research Network), EBSCO Database Suite, ProQuest Database Suite, etc.. To access them, please see the button in the navigation panel to your left that reads “APUS Library.” When you reach the landing page for the library, simply enter your preferred terms into the search field to view relevant resources.

Assignment Requirements:

• Minimum 2-4 pages in length (This shouldn’t be a problem as sharing each organizations information will make up for a large majority of the report);
• In addition to the required number of pages for the assignment, you must also include a reference page, written in APA style and a title page;
• Typewritten in double-spaced format with a readable style and font and submitted inside the electronic classroom. Arial 11 or 12-point font or Times New Roman styles;
• Page margins top, bottom, left and right = 1 inch, with reasonable accommodation being made for special situations.
