To ensure a minimal chance of data breaches, an organization should ensure that they meet data privacy regulations, such as implementing strong security mechanisms (Roosendaal et al.,2016). The privacy act of 1974 is a united states law that governs the utilization, gathering, and storage of their citizen’s identifiable data in the state agencies’ records systems. The PII covered in this law includes data on a person’s financial dealings, education, employment record, criminal records, and medical history (Ballad et al., 2014). However, the information can be shared with the person’s written consent if the use of the data is in line with these exceptions. The law enforcement, normal use within the united states government, investigation by the US congress, a text with important historical data for archival purposes, the united states census bureau, and other administrative uses.

Privacy must be protected when dealing with sensitive information. It is essential to consider that people have the right to control their information and their actions. It means that users may have to make decisions regarding what is or is not in their control. Privacy Act’s purpose is to ensure that personal information relating to an identified person or organization is processed with the principle of least privilege. It means that the person or organization cannot directly or indirectly obtain access to the data or information being processed. The Social Security Number is the private information necessary to transfer Social Security benefits to the individual responsible for applying for the benefits (Gimpel, 2018). Most information in browsing history is not shared but only protected. The educational records might be personal records, such as students’ attendance at higher learning institutions or a family member’s information. Some types of educational records have superior protection through state law. The term financial transaction describes many types of financial transactions that perform in a way that meets the Privacy Act requirements, including banking transactions, insurance claims, and loan origination (Chapple et al., 2014).

In the privacy act, financial transactions are anything done or omitted by a person who could reasonably have foreseen that doing so would be prohibited by law. Shopping habits usually define the pattern of behavior or actions used to make purchases or evaluate the suitability of products, services, or procedures. Employment history is the combination of information about the individual’s job performance and relationships with others in the organization and data regarding its employment (Gimpel, 2018). Each driving record is stored in a fixed-size disk block and contains only the data required to form the original drive’s layout. Travel history is a unique way to ensure that information does not leak to the police, the judiciary, or government officials who should know better. Medical history, which includes health records and patient-physician records, and medical laboratory data, protects medical data confidentiality. Eating and drinking habits impact the privacy of personal information of individuals. Criminal History protects a person’s privacy by ensuring that personal information disclosure may be regulated (Chapple et al., 2014).
