Chapter 19-Race, Ethnicity, and Corrections

Discuss the Concepts of Race and Ethnicity as described in the text. Do you agree with these concepts? Do you have your own view in these areas?
There are two views of race and corrections. One suggests that people of color are more involved in the criminal justice system because of overt racism. The other indicates that it is because people of color commit more crimes. Discuss each view, then provide your own insights. Do you agree with either position? Could both views have validity?
What are the costs of having high percentages of young African-American men incarcerated? How do these costs impact families and communities?
