Last week, you performed a frequency observation of a defined behavior. You focused on your experiences conducting the observation and measurement, and you included a simple frequency measurement of the target behavior.

For this Assignment, you will extend on last week’s observation by applying a more systematic approach to recording the behavior. You will not only have to use systematic behavioral measurement; you will also have to select and defend why you selected that system over others.

To Prepare

• In your readings from the Learning Resources and the Week 4 video introduction, review the different types of behavioral observation systems. Examine the pros and cons of each system. Note: Your review of Week 4’s video introduction will be critical to the completion of this Assignment.
• Review the behavior you observed from the video “Observing Problem Behaviors”. Select the behavioral recording system you believe would provide the most reliable measure of the target behavior.

• Propose a systematic behavioral measurement system (e.g., partial interval, whole interval, momentary time sampling) you might use to conduct the observation more systematically.
• Write a 1-page rationale for selecting the systematic behavioral measurement system you chose.
