PHIL 2100 MCC How Does Rawls Theory Contrast With Classical Utilitarianism Ques
Question Description
I’m working on a philosophy discussion question and need support to help me understand better.
Hello, everything is explained below . couple things are attached , and make sure to answer the reading review questions as well.
Rawls’ “Original Position” Thought-Experiment.
I would like you to try out Rawls’ “Original Position” thought-experiment! As best you can, try to put yourself behind the “veil of ignorance” and imagine that you do not yet know your race, gender, social status, etc. Consider the possibility that you might be a member of a racial minority. Consider the possibility that you might be born into a society that does not view women as equal to men. Consider the possibility that you might be born to a poor single mother and attend a school with inadequate resources. Once you put yourself into this mindset, ask yourself: What kind of society would you *want* to be born into if one of these possibilities came to pass? What principles would you choose to regulate your society? And finally, tell whether you believe our current society lives up to your “ideal.”
