Question Description
Psychologists believe that the five common traits can describe a persons personality depending on their character. They refer to these traits as the big five since they are five in number. The big five include extroversion-moderate, openness-moderate, agreeableness-low, conscientiousness-high and neuroticism-low (Hogan, et al, 2015). Since these traits are inborn, they can positively determine the career path that one might follow and excel and those careers in which they are less likely to prosper.
For instance, a person who fits the explanation of openness-moderate would perfectly suit in the engineering field since they are creative, open to new ideas, thrilled to think of abstract concepts, and focused on handling challenges and overcoming them. Conversely, a teacher would be more suitable for a conscientiousness-high position since they enjoy having a set schedule, pay attention to details, spends time preparing, and finishes essential tasks first. Finally, a model or an actor would fit an extroversion-moderate character since they easily make friends, they are not shy, like starting conversations, like meeting new people, and have a moderate circle of friends (Hogan, et al, 2015).
None of these jobs would fit my personality traits since my character would be termed as agreeableness-high. This trait means that, I display much empathy, like helping others, enjoy contributing to the joy of other people, cares about others, and pays much attention in other peoples interest.

In reading this week’s Study Materials, I found agreeableness as a measure of one’s trusting and helpful nature. According to the Agreeableness continuum it ranges from compassionate to challenging. We see compassionate people as friendly. They seem to cooperate with others very well. However, Detached people appear to be more challenging. In general, they seem suspicious towards others. On the end of the spectrum, extreme, agreeableness looks like naïveté or even submissiveness. In the opposite extreme, low agreeableness looks like competitiveness which can be seen as being difficult. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post for this week’s discussion topic.
