Read the assigned reading from the chapter. Then choose ONE of the questions below to answer. Answer the question you chose in a response that is a minimum of 1-2 paragraphs.

1. What is the difference between an argument and an explanation? What is the difference between an argument and a set of accusations or expressions of outrage? Provide an example of an argument.
2. Describe two of the following four fallacies and provide examples of these fallacies in contemporary political or social discourse: What is the appeal to the person? The appeal to popularity? The slippery slope? Begging the question? Provide an example of one of these fallacies as used by a politician or other public figure.
