This assignment is about the one-party system of governance in China. There are two videos to watch and some questions to answer.

and answer questions1 thru 4 to the best of your abilities based on the video :

1. How does the author explain that the Chinese one-party political system is adaptable, meritocratic, and legitimate even though there are no elections held?
2. How does the party’s Organization Department work?
3. What is the author’s take on government corruption?
4. What is the author’s prediction for China?
5. Watch Democracy, Authoritarian Capitalism, and China: Crash Course World History 230 (Links to an external site.) Discuss the differences between western-style representative democracy and autocratic governments as presented in the video.
6. In January 2021, many news outlets reported the fact that Jack Ma was laying low. Find out exactly WHAT was reported, WHAT people think it happened, and WHAT is the relationship between his “temporary disappearance from the news” and the communist party. Provide references.
7. Many critics of the Chinese government believe that the current pandemic could have been controlled earlier if China did not have a one-party system. Find out at least three articles to validate this assertion and write a short summary about them. Provide a link to each article followed by a summary of it.
