Does The Internet Advance or Impede Our Ability as Citizens Discussion

a substantial (100-word minimum) reply to a classmate. this is what one of my classmates wrote, I need 100 word as a response for it please:

“Even though the internet has its drawbacks, I believe that it advances our ability as citizens. In the past 30 years, the internet has expanded its reach to nearly every household in all of America, becoming a tool that allows citizens to peer into what is happening within our government, which allows citizens to expand their knowledge of current politics and allows us to make sure our government officials keeping their promises. With the internet, citizens can research our government and future political candidates by using credible sources. This allows citizens to learn and form their own opinions about the current problems with our government and by doing so, allows us to logically vote for a political candidate who promises to fix these problems with our government. And with the emergence of social media, it has never been easier for citizens to reach out to and interact with government officials and political candidates. This allows for more citizens to learn about political candidates prior to an election and allows them to make sure that once elected, the officials they voted for are held accountable. Those who say that the internets does more harm do have some merit in saying so as there is quite a lot of misinformation that gets spread about our government on the internet, however, I believe that there is more accurate information that gets spread and that the internet allows us to easily fact check misinformation. The internet gives us the tools to make sure that we get accurate information about our government, we just have to put in a little effort to use those tools effectively.”

.Not everyone sees the internet as a boon for knowledge and citizenship. Nicholas Carr famously posed the question “Is Google making us stupid?” in an essay published in The Atlantic. Carr later turned this argument into a full-length book The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains. Some think that Carr has it all wrong. Does the internet advance or impede our ability as citizens?Take care to address all elements of the question.

As long as we treat each other with respect, these differences enhance class discussion and create an atmosphere where we learn from each other. Rest assured that your grades will not be influenced by beliefs or ideas expressed on the discussion boards.

Participation is graded on whether your comments are thoughtful and coherent, respond directly to the question (or another post in the board), contribute something new to the discussion, reflect an effort to move the discussion along, bring some evidence to your argument, and reflect an understanding of the course materials.
