DQ1-There are several GIS systems software that can be used in crime mapping, The ArcGIS system is one of the systems. It has several advantages to the user whereby it can be used in compiling different geographic data. The user has a change to manipulate the data so that to use it for various functions. At the same time, the user might possess a lot of data types within the database. This Big Data might be hard to allocate a meaning which means that the user can only manage it using an analytic system. The ArcGIS is important in executing such an action. However, the system has some disadvantages to the users. First is that they have no open-access which means that user must incur some costs. It is also faced by a problem of crashing often which might affect its functionality.

The HunchLab is responsible for predicating the likelihood of a crime in various locations. It makes police patrols less predictable hence increasing the chances of arresting criminals. It also helps in allocating the field officers in useful activities hence reducing the amount of time wasted. The main disadvantages is that it lacks open access. The Maptitudeis important because it gives user the necessary tools of creating districts on a map so that to understand on how to deal with crime in each session. The main disadvantage is that user customization is limited. The most important vendor is the HunchLab as it involves the activities of controlling the crime.

DQ2-Crime analyst can use different GIS systems such as ArcGIS, Hunchlab, and Maptitude to aid law enforcement in decision-making, targeting crime in high-risk neighborhoods, and developing policing projects in the effort to reduce crime. By using these GIS, crime analyst creates maps that can identify where the crimes are occurring, it also makes it easy for law enforcement to be able to clarify what crimes are related versus the ones that are not. GIS can link data from various datasets on offenders and crime. The ArcGIS system has many different components that make up the program such as desktop, server, portal, and web GIS. The HunchLab is a system based out of Philadelphia, it is used to predict the likelihood a particular crime will occur at different locations across a time period. It aims to predict how likely a particular crime type is to occur at various locations across a time period. According to Boba (2001), “Maptitude gives you a low-cost way to visualize crime data, make informed decisions, and evaluate law enforcement programs.” All three of these systems are really valuable for law enforcement when it comes to tactical analysis, strategic analysis, administrative analysis, intelligence analysis, and public information sharing. The most useful system for a crime analyst in my opinion for producing crime analysis products for law enforcement would be HunchLab. This system will best help law enforcement be more proactive when it comes to crimes because it gives information based on potential tactics from certain crimes, areas, and time.

DQ3- There are sets of data within the crime scene that can help the investigating team to determine the offender. Time is one of the most important factors that can be used to analyse crime. Example, assessing the people that were present within the crime scene when the incident occurred. Another factor that can be assessed is items such as scratch cards which might have been dropped in the session or any other information that can lead to a potential suspect.The nature of the crime scene can also tell the motive of the offender. Example, if the crime scene involves theft, then the suspect might not have had a personal connection with the victim. Another issue is the intensity of the crime committed. Example, if a victim within the crime scene possesses deep cuts which might have been caused by several knife injuries guns or other weapons, there is a likelihood that the suspect committed the crime because personal reasons.Some of the characteristics that can be used to connect a suspect with the crime is sudden change of behaviour. Example, if a suspect visits a certain joint frequently but during the day of the crime they were not seen at the joint, it means that they might have been at the crime scene especially if there is another connection between the suspect and the victim. One’s change of relationship with other might also suggest that they might be going through a problem that might have resulted to the crime.
