USC Wk 5 Human Resource Management Employee Performance Analysis Essay
Question Description
Instructions
Employees can feel a disconnect between their job description and what they are judged on in performance evaluations. To remedy this, the job description, the metrics used to judge performance of the job, and the identification of training, mentoring or coaching they will need, should align. No matter if you are looking at the performance of an employee or a team, you can analyze this alignment or write a performance analysis.
For this weeks written assignment, you will choose from the following two options:
Option A: Write a performance analysis for an employee in your organization.
- Briefly describe the persons role in the organization. No need for a full job description – just the highlights.
- Describe their performance goals and the results achieved. What metrics are used to judge the employee? Focus on the persons strengths and challenges.
- Identify how the person can leverage their strengths and reasons for shortcomings, along with appropriate and personalized learning and development recommendations. Diagnose skill/capability issues versus motivation issues or other causes of performance problems in your assessment.
- Develop a plan for the employee, including practices such as training, mentoring, and coaching.
You may use the format and contents of one of the employees performance evaluations.
Option B: Write a performance analysis for a team in your organization.
- Briefly describe the teams function in the organization.
- Describe the teams performance goals and the results achieved. Focus on the teams strengths and challenges. Identify how the team can leverage its strengths and the reasons for shortcomings, along with appropriate and personalized learning and development recommendations.
- Diagnose skill/capability issues versus motivation issues or other causes of performance problems in your assessment.
- Develop a plan for the team, including practices such as training, mentoring, and coaching.
