University of California Irvine Public Opinion Cross Country Comparison Discussion

Students will analyze how public opinion toward a particular issue has changed over time in a chosen country and present their analysis through a written brief. They will first select a country and issue to investigate. Possible issue options include citizens’ attitudes toward the government, the market, women’s rights, ethnic minorities, etc. Then, they will examine citizens’ attitudes toward the issue using the World Values Survey, a publicly available survey database, and research possible explanations for what they observe.
