For this assignment, you will be required to justify an evaluation and position on a piece of paranormal media. For the sake of concision, you will need to work within the limits of paranormal media which concerns itself with ghosts or hauntingsno slasher films or psychological thrillers. However, outside of that one restriction, you are free to pick the media you work with; your media object can be a YouTube video, film, image, or television show though, it might be something else entirely such as a podcast or visual art medium. An evaluation of and a position on a given piece of media you will need to do two things:

The first is developing a profile of the piece of media you are writing about. Provide enough detail so that any reader unfamiliar with the media begins their reading experience with some understanding of its production, genre, and plot. These sorts of questions will help you lay the groundwork for your justification and ultimately allow you to convince your reader that your media object is worth evaluating.

The second is developing a position on the paranormal media supported with details and research about the media itself. Does the film, show, or video effectively argue for a particular way in which their footage should be read (Turner 49)? You might close-read a scene or two that epitomize the films argument; you are also encouraged to use interviews from directors, actors, producers, and alternative reviews in this portion of the paperoften times these individuals will make a claim about the media object they have helped create or analyzed that does not necessarily line up with your understanding of the objects argument.
