Part 2 of the chapter examines the many social, political, and cultural changes that occurred as a result of his conquests. For example, Alexander built many cities throughout the vast territories he brought under his control. The influx of Greeks into these territories altered the local cultures and, in turn, influenced Greek culture. Eventually, the empire that Alexander built fragmented into several successor kingdoms that existed until early in the Roman imperial era.
