UCI Trait Like Capabilities Are Useful in Thinking Feeling and Behaving Essay

One of the key benefits of teamwork is the individual strengths of its members. Blending different strengths can drive high performance and successful attainment of team goals. A team works well together because team members rely on each other to bring individual strengths to the table.

For this assignment, complete the VIA Survey of Character Strengths (Links to an external site.). This self-assessment will help you understand your core characteristics, strengths, and qualities. Upon receiving your in-depth report, answer the following questions on a Word document:

• According to your report, what are your top five-character strengths? Were you surprised by anything in the report?
• Which of your top five-character strengths do you use consistently in your internship this quarter?
• Describe a time when you utilized your strengths in a team setting. This experience can be from a class project, leadership/volunteer role, or internship/job

Top 5 character strengths:

I have already taken the VIA survey. The top 5 character strengths are mentioned below.

Top 1: Honesty(COURAGE): Speaking the truth but more broadly presenting oneself in a genuine way and acting in a sincere way; being without pretense; taking responsibility for one’s feelings and actions.

Top 2: Kindness(HUMANITY): Doing favors and good deeds for others; helping them; taking care of them.

Top 3: Humor(TRANSCENDENCE): Liking to laugh and tease; bringing smiles to other people; seeing the light side; making (not necessarily telling) jokes.

Top 4: Fairness(JUSTICE): Treating all people the same according to notions of fairness and justice; not letting feelings bias decisions about others; giving everyone a fair chance.

Top 5: Perseverance(COURAGE): Finishing what one starts; persevering in a course of action in spite of obstacles; “getting it out the door”; taking pleasure in completing tasks.

Instruction:

Please write in proper MLA format, the title should be “Character Strengths.” Please write at least 1.5 page to 2 pages. 12 font, Times New Roman, 1 inch margin. Please be sure to answer all 3 bullet point questions.

As for the 1st bullet point, I am not surprised by any of my top 5 character strengths at all. I am proud of them and practice them everyday.

As for the 2nd bullet point, please feel free to elaborate on what I have provided below. I use honesty, and perseverance consistently in my internship this quarter. It’s because there is no team for my program, I just do the work assigned by the supervisor and communicate with him. So I do not have any chances to use other character strengths. I think it’s really important and professional being honest of my work and progress, sometimes even my feelings as well. Also, it is a really tough program, but perseverance really kicked in. Ever since I was little, as soon as I started the work, I do not stop until it’s done, or I stick with my schedule and always deliver it on time. Like my homework, projects, family errands, my other internship program, etc…

As for the 3rd bullet point, please come up with an appropriate story which fits into this essay. Please do not come up with a story that happened during my internship. It could be any other time, as long as it is in a team setting.
