We are very lucky to have Koo Yul Kim speak with us as a guest speaker this week. He will be focusing on the differences/similarities in his work here in the US compared with his work in Korea. Before joining the PhD program at the Fox School of Business in 2017, Koo Yul Kim worked for different teams/company within the sport industry.

He has worked for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club for one and a half years, selling ticket packages and handling Korean community marketing. He also has extensive hands-on experience with the Eugene Emeralds baseball club (short season single A minor league team) for 3 seasons, selling ticket packages and overseeing ticket operations. Additionally, Koo worked for two different PGA Tour tournaments (Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Shell Houston Open) handling sales and marketing duties. Lastly, he worked for the Brion company, sport marketing agency in Korea, managing LG Electronics’ MLB Sponsorship (Texas Rangers & Los Angeles Dodgers).

Koo Yul Kim earned both a MBA and a MSA (Master of Sport Administration) degree from Ohio University. He received a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from both the University of Oregon (concentration: sport business) and Kookmin University in Korea. His research interests include ticket pricing/sales strategy and revenue generation aspects of sport franchises/leagues.
