Temple University Bilingualism and Multilingualism Situation in Canada PPT

Guidelines:

1. 1. You will give a 7-10-minute, individual presentation on a situation of bilingual and/or multilingual contact in a country of your choosing outside the U.S.
   2. Document all sources of information used within the Amer. Psychological Assoc. (APA) citation format:

   3. Prepare your work using PowerPoint or some other visual presentation software. Record your voice giving the presentation within the presentation software. Here is a video explanation (Links to an external site.) for how to record yourself narrating a PowerPoint presentation. Here is an example of me giving a presentation on the U.S. as a bilingual country.
   4. When you have finished, submit the recorded presentation in both the Assignment section of Canvas and the Country Profile Discussion assignment.
   5. The content of your presentation should start with you speaking briefly on why the country is of interest to you. Your presentation will then assess the prospects for maintenance of a minority language (or minority languages) in the country of your choice by touching on at least two of the following topics:
      • Official government and educational policies with regard to the use of the two or more languages in question
      • Information and/or evidence of actual use of the languages in daily life

• • • Socio-economic status of the users of either language
    • Efforts to maintain or revitalize the language(s) with minority status
    • Conclude your presentation by assessing the chances for maintaining the minority language.
